Mangalore University Mangalore at Mangalagangothri is located in the south-east of Mangalore. It is a picturesque campus which sprawls over 333 acres, with the Arabian Sea on the one side, and the cloud-capped Western Ghats on the other. It is a modest post-graduate centre of an independent University. The campus has twenty-five postgraduate departments, supported by modern infrastructure and experienced faculty. The University campus provides all the essential facilities and infrastructure for the pursuit of excellence in higher education. Mangalagangothri campus has the spacious and modern library, the Science Instrumentation Centre, the Humanities Block, Microtron Centre and the cyber cafe. The campus has administrative building, guest houses for visiting dignitaries and faculty, a well-equipped health centre, a useful shopping complex, banks, post office, telephone exchange and an ATM centre on the campus. The University has provided residential quarters for its employees on the campus itself. The University campus has two hostels for men and women, and a hostel for working women. Hostels have solar water heaters. There are playgrounds and courts, a modern gymnasium, and indoor sports facilities. The University is a major centre for the study of ecology and environment. Many new courses of study have been introduced for the first time in the country. The University has introduced undergraduate programmes like Hotel Management, Human Resource Development, Fashion Design and Yogic Sciences which attracted students from all over the world. The University has computerized its administrative offices to speed up the administrative process. Many scholars are pursuing doctoral studies and faculty members are engaged in active research along with their teaching assignments

Mangalore University Mangalore has grown impressively with 190 affiliated colleges including two constituent colleges, one at Mangalore and Madikeri. The University has established the PG Centre, Cauvery campus at Madikeri, which offers Postgraduate courses in Microbiology and Biochemistry.
