SDM College of Engineering and Technology Dharwad is a college which come under and is affiliated Visvesvaraya Technological University Belgavi (VTU). It is also recognized by AICTE New Delhi and Government of Karnataka. This institute came into existence in the year 1979 under the SDM education society and has grown in a fantastic way over the years gone by. It has earned a name which comes in the top colleges list of the state of Karnataka, Bangalore. There are a number of institutions under this SDM education trust and earned a very good name in the region of south India. President of this society Padma Bhushana Dr. Veerendra Heggade who is the Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala is the main person behind all this. He is the driving force behind all the activities that are carried out in all the education institutions and grown the institutions to top level. This society runs around thirty institutes which impart high level education all over Karnataka state in the field of medical, dental and engineering.
