The Srinivas Institute of Technology Mangalore (SIT) came into existence in the year 2006 with the target of providing high level education and giving world class engineers to the society. This college has earned the name as self financed best engineering college in the state of Karnataka in the means of infrastructural facilities. This college comes under The Srinivas group of colleges which is of A. Shama Rao foundations. Srinivas group of colleges was the dream of an ideal teacher A. Shama Rao, and this was made a reality by his son CA. A. Raghavendra Rao. Thus the foundation was named after the great A. Shama Rao and it was established by his son in 1988. This Srinivas group of colleges has an aim to develop a centre of excellence which imparts high quality education to produce high skilled students to meet the technological and scientific requirements of the challenging world. The foundation manages institutes and much other social service organization in the state. There are about 1,25,000 students studying under 18 institutions of the group which are spread around in 3 campuses Valachil, Pandeshwar and Mukka.
